The elevation of Matthew Grove to the Police Commissoner job means that Mid Holderness will have a by-election on May 2nd

Our Labour candidate is George McManus

His only opponents are UKIP Gary Shores and Tory John Holtby

This is your chance to make a change at the East Riding Council. I am asking you to vote for me. This is your opportunity to vote for a different type of councillor.

As a local candidate living in Long Riston with my wife Deborah and Border Collie ‘Patch’ I believe we are being let down by the Tories at County Hall. As a Labour Co-operative candidate, I will bring a new set of values to decision making in Beverley.

As a Labour Co-operative candidate I believe that our society should be based on fairness, social justice and mutual co-operation.

The Tories at County Hall are refusing to stand up for ordinary people. Faced by an onslaught of cuts from central government, they are rolling over and refusing to support vulnerable members of our society.

If elected I promise I will :

v Oppose proposals to close rural schools

v Fight the Bedroom Tax

v Oppose cuts to Youth Services & Elderly Care

v Fight cuts in local bus services

v Work with partners to bring more jobs to Mid Holderness

I believe that my positive co-operative approach can bring back hope for a brighter future. Please vote for me in this by-election.

Yours sincerely

George McManus
